Kimber + Jide, Crystal Ballroom

Kimber and Jide were so much fun to plan with- both have a quirky sense of humor that I completely loved, and really wanted the day to reflect their laidback vibe as a couple. They chose the Crystal Ballroom for its completely amazing location and some pretty incredible vendors to bring their vision to life. It all turned out stunning.

Loved ones came from far and wide to celebrate with the couple, they had so much fun dancing with friends and family.  We were so happy to be included in their celebration. We wish them all of God’s blessings as they embark on their life together. Kimber + Jide, To-Be-Wed

Kimber and Jide are getting married soon! I am excited to see them say I Do at an elegant location being kept on the wraps for now.  These two are a super sweet couple so I just know the day is going to be filled with tons of love and happiness.  Kimber is such a smart, classic and elegant bride, she has incredible taste and has a clear vision for her wedding.  I dont get to see Jide much but when he does come with us for appointments, he is such a perfect gentleman with incredible style.

I am blessed to have met these two and to have them as part of the Distinctive Events by Karen family.  I am excited to work with Henry from Civic Photos for the very first time.  I loved their engagement pictures, here are some of my favorites from their engagement session with him.

 

 

Ani + Niye-Miramont Country Club

Niye and Ani wedding celebration at the gorgeous hidden gem of a venue, Miramont Country Club, was perfect in pretty much every way possible. It was one of those amazing combinations of incredible weather, delicious food, lovely decor, and SO much love radiating from their many friends and family who came together to celebrate. Such a wonderful day.

I had a blast planning and coordinating for Niye and Ani, they are an incredible couple. After the wedding, Niye sent us an amazing review of our services which you can read on our wedding wire page or on instagram. Flora + Igho, Humble Civic Center

Flora and Igho are by far one of the sweetest couples on the face of the planet, words cannot really express how much I love this couple, so I will not even try.  During the planning stage, Flora was an absolute joy to work with.  Every time I met with them, it was fun fun fun.  They are so in love.

Flora’s vision for her special day was quite specific- she wanted bright vivid colors mixed in with softer shades of cream and gold. Introducing Baby Abigail!!!

I am back!!!, Missed you all.  As many of you know, I had my second daughter five weeks ago, it has been super duper busy for us, lots of sleepless nights.  Two is definitely double the work and the joy.  We took some time off to adjust and get oriented.  We are back in full swing ready to finalize our remaining weddings.

Without further ado, let me introduce you to Chizara Abigail, Chizara means God answered.  She is definitely an answer to prayer, she is a blessing to our family and we are incredibly grateful to God for a safe pregnancy and delivery!!!

Niye + Dani, To -Be-Wed

Hello lovelies, its always a joy to be back on the blog updating you on all the wonderful things going on at Distinctive Events by Karen.  We are expecting a new addition to our family and getting ready for that.  We are also working with our couples towards their special day.  I cant emphasis how blessed we are to work with sweet, stylish and humble couples day in and day out.  It makes our work all the more rewarding.

With that said, its with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce this lovely couple, Niye and Dani.  When I first spoke with Niye, she came across as sweet, pleasant and down to earth.  Working with her has been loads of fun, she is every planners dream, organized, detailed and stylish.  She is working with the cream of the crop of vendors to bring their wedding vision to life, I am super excited to see it all come together.  Her e-session with world renowned Alakija Studios is short of breathtaking, magic happens when you combine an amazing photographer, a couple deep in love and a beautiful venue.  Here are a few of my favorites. Janetra + Onoame, Noahs

Janetra and Ono are all smiles from ear to ear whenever they are together. Their vibrant love for each other brought the most amazing energy to their wedding day- from the heartfelt ceremony to the non-stop dance party,  the day was overflowing with happiness and fun times.

Noah’s in Sugarland is a new facility uniquely placed across from a beautiful lake.  We were able to utilize the beautiful scenery to capture some awesome pictures of the couple and their bridal party walking along the waters edge. Chioma + Simeon, Westin Galleria

I don’t even know where to start! Chioma and Simeon’s wedding was so magnificent, so incredible, so magical it is hard to put into words. Working with this couple and their families over the year that we planned was such a wonderful experience- Chioma embraced the planning process fully, and came up with so many thoughtful and lovely touches that we incorporated in the weekend.  Even though she had so many great ideas, she trusted me fully.

The couple chose to get married at the Westin Galleria which made for a perfect location since most of their guests came from out of state.  Her color palette was gold, dark grey and cream.  Everything turned out beautifully.  Chioma is one of those brides who you just cant say goodbye too, we have kept communicating even after the wedding because our chemistry was one in a million.  Thanks to our amazing vendors and team for their hard work.  Wishing this lovely couple all the best.  Photo credit Rhphotoarts!!!

Color of the Year!!!

So the news is out, the color of the year has been chosen, Marsala, very similar to what we know as wine or burgundy.  I must admit that I wasn’t thrilled initially by the choice of color.  However it has grown on me, I have had two clients so far pick this color as the main component of their wedding color scheme.  As a result I have done some research and it I am excited about the possibilities of the color Marsala.

Marsala can be paired with other colors other than cream and gold.  See below some inspirations of how you can incorporate Marsala into your wedding color scheme.  Happy planning!!!

 

 

Merry Christmas!!!

Its so amazing  how fast we reached the end of 2014.  It has been a great year with its challenges and blessings.  We are extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to work with some of the best clients in the world.  We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of your lives even for a time.  We are hopeful that the new year will bring us all joy, peace  and health.

As we reflect through this season, we are grateful for God’s sustenance in every area.  We know that he has a great 2015 planned for us.  I am grateful to have him in my heart knowing that Jesus is indeed the reason for the season.

The DEBK family wishes all our families, friends, clients and vendors a happy holiday. We are sincerely thankful for your goodwill, loyalty and support throughout the past year. We look forward to a great year in 2015 with all of you!!!
